The Gallery has an exhibition of works at the Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery,  5 Kinchela Street, Gladstone.

The Exhibition opens Thursday 5th July at 6pm and will run until 4.00pm sunday 8th July.

Nudge Blacklock Exhibition

3rd July – 12 August


Nudge was born in 1958 at Guyra and belongs to the Biripi/Ngarabal language group.  He is a passionate artist and is presently residing in the Dorrigo Region  He has participated in both individual and group exhibitions both in Australia and internationally.   This year alone he has exhibited at the Sydney Opera House at the launch of Jabibi Silk and has been selected as a finalist in the 29th Telstra Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders Art Award to be opened in Darwin on Friday 10th August 2012.

Nudge has just delivered a new body of work to the Dunghutti Ngaku Aboriginal Art Gallery for his exhibition which will run from 3rd July to 12 August.  Nudge has been developing his skills in the printing medium and has recently completed a series of prints which are available for sale either framed or unframed.  It is from this print series that he has been selected as a finalist in the Telstra Art Award.

Nudge is also known for his ‘River’ Series and painting from ‘My Grandmothers Country’.

Richard Campbell at the Glasshouse

In 2008 Richard’s work was selected to be represented at Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Australia for World Youth Day.  during this time he was an artist in residence at The Australian Museum.

In 2010 two of Campbell’s works were displayed at the Cananisation ceremony of Mary McKillop

NSW Indigenous Parliament Award Artists

The Gallery presently has on show works by local aboriginal artists whose works have been represented in the NSW Indigenous Parliament Awards.

To accompany these that Gallery has on show  fine works by Artists of the mid north coast.

Jabidi Silk – Evette Morgan

The Gallery recently attended the launch of Jabidi Silk at the Sydney Opera House.   Evette Morgan has invented a new silk canvas that is capable of taking any medium.  Colin Wightman painted on the silk which was shown at the official launch at Sydney Opera House on 30 April.

Andrew Stoner Oxley MP

Andrew Stoner recently visited the Gallery and made the following comment

‘I encourage locals and visitors alike to take the time to visit the Art Gallery next to the Kempsey Visitor Information Centre and see some wonderful pieces of work.’

New works coming in

The Gallery is receiving new works from motivated women of the area for the upcoming International Indigenous Women’s Day Exhibition

IIWD Exhibition will be held at the Gallery from 8– 25 March 2012.

This is an annual celebration where women can be recognised for the vital role they play in families, communities and countries throughout the world.

Official Opening will be held at the Gallery on Thursday 8th March at 11am.

All welcome, please drop by and bring your friends to this wonderful display of Aboriginal art and culture right here in the Macleay Valley.

Gallery is situated alongside the Visitor Information Centre.
